1. Choose your cameras. Start with the areas you need to see, mounting locations, lighting and desired detail. Compare IP security cameras and review each model's lens, resolution and power requirements.
2. Plan recording and storage. Compare network video recorders by channel capacity, incoming bandwidth, supported camera protocols and storage bays. Use the storage and bandwidth calculator to estimate recording capacity.
3. Check network and power requirements. Review the total power budget and cable distances when selecting PoE switches. For separate buildings or remote positions, explore wireless access points and bridges.
4. Match the installation accessories. Select compatible camera mounts and brackets, cabling and connectors. Confirm model compatibility before purchasing.
