NSI Project Guidance
Configure the Right System
Each GuardBox deployment may require a different combination of cameras, storage, cellular service, speakers, mounting hardware, networking equipment and monitoring services. NSI Security will review your requirements before preparing a written project quotation.
Please provide:
- Project location and intended application
- Approximate number of cameras
- Required recording retention
- Available AC power
- Cellular coverage or preferred carrier
- Mounting location and approximate height
- Whether live monitoring or audible deterrence is required
Important Configuration Notice
Cameras, hard drives, speakers, sensors, cellular service, monitoring subscriptions, mounting hardware and other peripheral equipment are not included unless specifically identified in the written NSI quotation. Compatibility and available features may depend on connected devices, firmware, carrier coverage, network conditions and the final system configuration.
Manufacturer documentation identifies the GuardBox Pro AC platform as NDAA compliant. Compliance of the complete deployed system depends on the cameras, recorder components and peripheral devices selected for the final project. AT&T and T-Mobile service availability, compatibility and coverage depend on the selected equipment, service plan and deployment location. Product specifications may change without notice.

Service options & responsibilities
Flexible monitoring. No forced platform lock-in.
GuardBox Pro AC combines compatible UNV surveillance equipment, cellular connectivity, and optional professional AI video monitoring. Choose the services you need without making the equipment permanently dependent on a monitoring subscription.
Professionally monitored intrusion response
What happens when a possible intrusion is detected?
With an active Video Monitoring Services plan that includes intrusion response, GuardBox Pro AC operates similarly to a professionally monitored alarm system.
- Detection A compatible camera or sensor identifies a possible intrusion.
- Transmission The event is securely transmitted to the professional monitoring center.
- Video review A trained operator reviews the available live or recorded video.
- Customer contact The customer or designated emergency contact is normally contacted first.
- Police notification If the event is verified and dispatch requirements are met, the operator can notify local police.
Police notification and response depend on the selected monitoring plan, event verification, the customer's response instructions, local alarm ordinances, required permits, and the responding agency's policies and availability.
Your system, your choice
AI monitoring and cloud storage are optional
Use professional services when needed
Customers may subscribe to professional AI video monitoring and cloud storage when those services fit their security needs. These optional services are not mandatory for compatible GuardBox equipment to remain operational.
Return to the standard UNV platform
If optional monitoring or cloud services are canceled, the compatible equipment does not become a “brick.” It can be reconfigured for supported use through the standard UNV platform.
- Local live viewing
- Video recording and playback
- System and device management
- Compatible UNV mobile and desktop applications
Available functions may differ between platforms. Remote access still requires an active internet or cellular data connection.
Cellular connectivity
A data plan is required for remote access
The customer selects the cellular provider and should confirm which compatible carrier delivers the strongest, most reliable signal at the installation site.
Services that require an active connection
- Remote live viewing and playback
- Remote alerts and notifications
- Professional AI video monitoring
- Cloud storage and connected features
- Communication with the monitoring center
Properly configured local recording may remain available without cellular service. Remote and subscribed online services will not operate without an active data connection.
Using a customer-supplied SIM
A compatible customer-supplied SIM may be used temporarily for connectivity testing. A SIM that works in a phone is not guaranteed to work with the GuardBox cellular modem.
- Select a compatible cellular data, IoT, or M2M plan.
- Provide the GuardBox modem's IMEI number to the carrier.
- Ask the carrier to confirm modem and network compatibility.
- Complete SIM activation and any required APN configuration.
The modem is subject to applicable FCC equipment-authorization requirements. IMEI approval, SIM activation, network access, coverage, and plan restrictions are determined by the selected carrier.

Frequently asked questions
GuardBox services, connectivity, and support
Does GuardBox Pro AC require professional AI video monitoring?
No. Professional AI video monitoring is optional and is not required to keep compatible GuardBox equipment operational.
What happens if I cancel monitoring or cloud storage?
The compatible equipment does not become unusable. It can be reconfigured for supported operation through the standard UNV platform. Remote access still requires an active data connection.
Will the monitoring center contact me during an intrusion?
Yes, when the active plan includes intrusion response. A monitoring operator reviews the event and normally contacts the customer or designated emergency contact first.
Will the monitoring center notify the police?
If the intrusion is verified and applicable dispatch requirements are satisfied, the monitoring operator can notify the appropriate local police department according to the customer's response plan and local procedures.
Do I need a cellular data plan?
Yes. An active compatible cellular data plan is required for remote viewing, professional monitoring, and other online services.
Can I use my own SIM card?
A compatible customer-supplied SIM may be used temporarily for testing. For continued service, the customer must confirm compatibility with the carrier and provide the modem's IMEI number for approval and activation.
Who handles physical installation and hardware service?
The customer's selected installer handles equipment mounting, cabling, power connections, physical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Who handles monitoring software and firmware updates?
A Plus Guard, LLC (APlus Guard), the Video Monitoring Services Provider (VMSP), handles compatible software and firmware updates, remote device management, and monitoring-platform support included with the active service plan.
What is NSI Security's role?
NSI Security is the equipment reseller. NSI is not the installer, cellular carrier, monitoring company, or emergency-dispatch operator unless a separate written agreement specifically states otherwise.
