Why Use an LPR Camera?

A regular security camera is great for general video surveillance, but capturing license plates clearly can be more challenging. Vehicle speed, camera angle, distance, headlights, and nighttime lighting can all affect plate visibility. This LPR camera is built specifically for vehicle and plate capture applications where clear license plate footage is needed.

LPR / ANPR Compatibility Notice

The advanced LPR / ANPR recognition features require a compatible UNV / Uniview NVR. For best compatibility, we recommend using a supported UNV Prime Series NVR, typically starting with 16-channel models and higher.

Basic live view and recording may work with other compatible IP systems, but advanced features such as license plate recognition, plate search, plate snapshots, vehicle event records, and smart search may require a supported Uniview NVR with proper setup.

Installation Notes

For the best license plate capture results, proper installation is very important. The camera should be aimed at the area where vehicles naturally slow down or stop, such as an entrance gate, driveway, parking lot entrance, or checkpoint.

• Avoid extreme side angles whenever possible.
• Mount the camera where vehicles slow down or stop.
• Adjust the zoom lens for the license plate area, not the entire scene.
• Check nighttime performance after installation.
• Review playback footage to confirm plate readability.

License plate capture performance may vary depending on camera angle, distance, vehicle speed, lighting, weather, camera settings, and recorder configuration.
